Privacy Policy
Information we collect
ClassCheckpoint collects limited information necessary to operate the service:
- Google account information (name and email address)
- Class roster information imported from Google Classroom (first and last name only)
- Student break time data generated through use of the application
We limit the collection of personal information to what is reasonably necessary to operate the service.
How we use your information
The information collected is used to:
- Manage and track student break times
- Generate usage insights and analytics for teachers
- Import and organize class rosters through the Google Classroom API
We do not sell personal data to third parties.
Google API services
This application uses Google Classroom API services to:
- Access class rosters with teacher authorization
- Import student names into the ClassCheckpoint system for break management
ClassCheckpoint only accesses and stores the minimum information required to provide the service. Use of Google information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data security
ClassCheckpoint implements reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These safeguards include the use of reputable cloud infrastructure and widely accepted security practices.
While we take reasonable steps to protect the information we process, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. As a result, ClassCheckpoint cannot guarantee absolute security of information.
Security practices may evolve over time as technologies and best practices change.
Educational privacy considerations
ClassCheckpoint is designed for use by teachers and educational institutions. We strive to minimize the collection of personal information and apply privacy-by-design principles when developing the service.
Educational institutions are responsible for evaluating whether the service meets their specific regulatory and policy requirements. These requirements may include laws such as:
- FERPA (United States) โ Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
- PIPEDA (Canada) โ Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
- Provincial or territorial privacy laws (such as PIPA or FOIP)
- District-specific privacy policies or requirements
Schools and districts should review their own policies and legal obligations when determining whether to use the service.
Data retention & deletion
We retain account and classroom data for the duration of an active account. Users may delete their data through the Data Management section of their account settings.
- Delete All Data โ Removes all classroom data while keeping the account active
- Delete Account โ Permanently deletes the user account and all associated data
We make reasonable efforts to permanently delete selected data from active systems. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or logs for operational, legal, or security purposes.
Deleted data cannot be recovered once the deletion process has completed. Users should back up any information they wish to retain before initiating deletion.
Terms of Service
By using ClassCheckpoint, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information
- Use the service only for its intended educational purpose
- Not share account credentials
- Not misuse or attempt to manipulate the service
Acceptable use
ClassCheckpoint is intended for use by teachers and educational institutions to manage classroom break tracking. Any use outside of its intended educational purpose is prohibited.
User responsibilities
Users are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials
- Ensuring their use of the service complies with their school or institution's policies
- Obtaining any necessary permissions required by their institution before using the service with students
Limitation of liability
ClassCheckpoint is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ClassCheckpoint and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of the service.
Users and institutions assume responsibility for evaluating whether the service is appropriate for their environment.
